Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve compiled detailed answers to the most common Global Entry program questions to help travelers understand
the application, interview, approval, and renewal process.

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler Program that allows pre-approved, low-risk international travelers to use automated kiosks for faster entry into the United States. This program helps reduce wait times at airport customs and speeds up the overall arrival process.

Eligibility for Global Entry enrollment includes U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, and citizens from CBP-approved partner countries. All applicants must pass a rigorous background check and complete an in-person interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center before final approval.

For your Global Entry interview, bring a valid passport and a secondary ID such as a driver’s license or government-issued photo ID. Lawful permanent residents must also bring their Permanent Resident Card (Green Card). CBP may request additional travel or identification documents to verify your information during the enrollment process.

The Global Entry approval timeline varies, but most travelers receive conditional approval within 2–6 weeks. After receiving conditional approval, you must schedule a Global Entry interview at a CBP Enrollment Center to complete the process and activate your membership.

If your Global Entry application is denied, you’ll receive an official notice from CBP explaining the reason. You may request reconsideration through the Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) portal or reapply after addressing the identified issues. Ensuring accurate, complete, and honest information increases the chance of approval during your next application.
